President’s Opinion
Our chapter voted to donate $737.00 to the Clatsop Clay Busters 4-H Club for shooting supplies.
They are going to include pistol and muzzle loader activities in their youth training. This is in
addition to the $3000.00 we donated to the youth shoot.
We also donated $500.00 to the bighorn sheep transplant that will take place in Hells Canyon in
December. The total cost of the transplant is $6000.00. The $6000.00 is for helicopter flight time.
Several OHA chapters went together to raise the funds.
OHA has agreed to join a coalition to try to overturn Measure 18 in 2014. We are going to try to get
bear and cougar hunting back the way it was before Measure 18. Later on individual OHA
members will be able to make donations directly to the coalition.
ODFW is collecting blacktail deer teeth this year so that they can get an accurate account of the
age of the animals.
This is critical to getting some accurate data instead of educated guesses that they have always
used. The tooth envelopes are available
from ODFW.
Good Luck Hunting!
